High alert issued in Pakistan to deal with monkeypox virus

Pakistan's National Institutes of Health (NIH) has issued a nationwide high alert for monkeypox after the World Health Organization (WHO) raised the possibility of further cases of monkeypox.

Common symptoms of the monkeypox virus include fever, headache, muscle and back pain, swelling of the body, chills, tiredness, and rashes or blisters on the body. It is common for these grains to feel itchy and the symptoms usually go away in two to three weeks.

According to the World Health Organization, the smallpox vaccine may provide partial immunity against monkeypox. The monkeypox  vaccine was also developed in 2019 but is not widely available.
